This will not (in general) be the case. Before trying to create any databases, you should run .IR newbki to update the template files. .PP Note that this only updates the files from which the template database will be built if you run the .IR initdb (unix) command. This in turn implies that you will have to run .IR cleardbdir (unix) to destroy the existing template database and any existing user databases \(em .IR initdb will not run unless this has been done. .SH FILES .TP \&$PGDATA/base The location of global (shared) classes. .TP \&$PGDATA/base/template1 The location of the template database. .TP \&$PGDATA/files/{global1,local1_template1}.bki Command files used to generate the global and template databases, generated and installed by the initial compilation process. These are the only files modified by .IR newbki . .SH "SEE ALSO" initdb(cleardbdir), createdb(unix), initdb(unix), bki(files), template(files). .SH CAVEATS There is no good way to change the \*(PG user ID after you have started creating new databases. .IR newbki is definitely .BR not the recommended way to try to do this. You might think that you can save your databases in flat files using .IR copy (commands) and then restore them after .IR initdb has been executed. However, there is the additional problem that the \*(PG user ID is embedded in the system catalog data itself.
