to avoid possible confusion, it should probably be noted that this is 

	1. a forwarded copy of the old announcement of 4.0.1, not the 
	   new announcement for 4.1

	2. in response to the request for specific sunos release numbers
	   under which sparc ports have run.  (although, unfortunately,
	   it doesn't seem to mention sunos release numbers.  we run
	   the system under sunos 4.1.2.)

     if anyone besides me receives bounce mail (from other people's
     mailer daemons) when you mail to postgres@postgres, drop me a
     line.
